Adult Education Orientation Course
The Adult Education Orientation (AEO) is a course in Canvas that offers new practitioners an overview of adult education, professional learning, and instructional strategies.
Participants will learn about the RI AE system through six self-guided modules and gain practical skills for working with adult learners.

Community of Practice Facilitators
The PLP supports Communities of Practice (CoPs) in four content areas: digital literacy and integration, ESOL, Learning Differences/Learning Disabilities, and ABE/GED. The COPs help practitioners work together and share resources.
The PLP team hires RI practitioners to serve as facilitators. Facilitators work closely the PLP team.
Practitioners can apply for this opportunity as positions become available.

BRITFIT Workshops
By RI Teachers for RI Teachers (BRITFIT) workshops are an opportunity for practitioners to deliver a workshop in an area of their expertise.
These workshops feature 90 minutes of preparation and presentation coaching, leading up to a 60-minute workshop delivered either virtually or in person. BRITFIT facilitators receive a $250 stipend.

COABE National Conference
Each year, the PLP team covers COABE conference registration and travel fees for two to three practitioners.
Announcements for applying are sent out through the PLP’s information and support networks. All practitioners are encouraged to apply.

The Conference on Serving Adults with Disabilities - Connecticut
The PLP team awards 2-3 practitioners with registration and travel to attend The Conference on Serving Adults with Disabilities in Connecticut each year. Announcements for applying are sent out through the PLP’s information and support networks.
Practitioners working with adults with disabilities are encouraged to apply.

IDEAL Edtech Innovations Open Conference on Digital Education
The IDEAL Consortium, a project of the EdTech Center at World Education, Inc., works to support quality blended and distance online learning in adult education and literacy programs across the United States through new educational technology innovations and collaborative research and practice. RI practitioners are encouraged to attend the annual IDEAL conference.
The conference is held every August and is open to the public. It is available online for free, allowing anyone to attend virtually.
Community
The PLP team supports several Communities of Practice (CoP) and Google Groups where adult education instructors can join subject-specific discussions, access shared resources, and stay updated on events. To join in the conversation and connect with peers, visit the Community page.
